Honest Bookings speaks for itself, we were tasked with building a hotel bookings platfofm that could give power back to travelers with focus on getting the best deals + cashback on every booking, as well as offering access 95% of hotels in US.

Challenges

This was one of our first projects in a hotel booking space. Biggest challenge was to get certified with 2 largers GDS systems, to get access to Hotels. Sabre and Amadeus are known to be extremely restrictive on giving access to their API Gates. Once done, implementing a cross session management that could work with both REST and SOAP API’s from different GDS systems.

Fighting with Google Bots and Scrapers that not only put a heavy server load, but also increase GDS spending since hotel views are metered.

Working with chaotic data format, since hotels use different booking engines and provide different rating, pictures and room descriptions.

Visual appeal and user interface was one of the biggest focuses when it comes to creating a website for Honest Bookings, since the target customer is a busy traveler that books hotels for leisure and for work. Since Honest Bookings was going against the usual hotel booking industry of information overload and endless options search, it was important to create a very clean design, with focus on the most important aspects of hotels and destinations, pictures and prices!

Since one of the target customers was a business traveler, and business travelers love getting rewards and perks, we created a special Elite Rewards and Business invite only events program.

For businesses that would choose to use Honest Bookings as their preferred corporate travel platform, we created a special expense reporting functionality for their business travelers.

In our customer research we found out that many business travelers are willing to book from a previously unknown platform, when they book rooms for conferences. We created special conference account pages for organizers and allowed them to select their preferred hotels for the attendees.
